Thai Massage
WHAT THAI MASSAGE IS
Thai Massage has been practiced for hundreds of years in Thailand as a way to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. The technique of Thai massage is a combination of Acupressure, Reflexology, Yoga, Exercises, stretching techniques and focused breathing. It's like doing yoga, only you don't do the work! There are many types of Thai Massage. The most common types of Thai massage are Thai-Yoga Massage, Swe-Thai Massage and Thai-Sports Massage.
HOW IT WORKS
Thai Massage is commonly given on a mat on the floor or on a massage table. Clients are to be fully clothed with loose fitting material. Traditionally no oils are used, except in foot massage. In the case of sore and inflammed muscles, we apply specially prepaird hot herbal compresses on the affected areas. Most sessions are 1 to 3 hours long. Thai focuses on the Meridian lines in the body. Any blockages along these lines can cause disease on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. By releasing blocked energy along these lines you restore balance, health and harmony in the body.

Energy Work
A gentle, hands on technique to reduce stress and promote well-being thru the ancient healing art of Reiki.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes natural healing. Techniques of this nature have been done for thousands of years in the ancient cultures of Japan, China, India and Egypt and in America, by the native American Indians. These ancient cultures believed that a life force energy flows thru the body and it deeply affects the body, mind and emotions.
Current research strongly suggests that energy does extend throughout and beyond the physical body and that disruptions or imbalances in its flow correlate to physical, mental and emotional illnesses.
Today Reiki and other laying on of hands therapies are used in hospitals as an alternative method to relieve pain and to help speed up the healing process before and after surgery.
Reiki alleviates pain and stress and promotes restful sleep, healing and relaxation. Relaxation in itself promotes a host of benefits for mind and body including a heightened sense of well-being, release of muscle tension and relief from anxiety and depression. In addition, relaxation has been shown to help restore immune function and improve circulation, enhancing healing throughout the entire body.
Reiki is not massage, hypnosis, or a tool for diagnosing illness. Reiki is a modality that addresses both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting balance among all of the body's systems and the normal regenerative process of the body, mind and spirit.
Another form of energy work used in therapy to bring about balance and harmony is thru the ancient art of sound therapy. It is believed and proven thru science that the human body can correct imbalances in it's energy field and body tissues just by simply hearing a single or a combination of musical notes. The human body responds to certain high or low pitched frequencies in a manner that easily allows stress and tension to just melt away.
At Divine Massage and Sauna we play a combination of tuning forks, crystal and 7-metal bowls at the beginning of the hands on energy session to bring about a deeper sense of healing and relaxation to the client.
